The Opening and Closing Concerts of this fantastic festival are held at Harrogate’s Royal Hall, a venue which has provided the premier location for The Harrogate International Youth Festival since its conception in 1973.

HIYF offers the unique opportunity for your ensemble to perform at least once on the stage of this special and historic venue which has played host to famous artists ranging from Elgar to the Beatles.
The comprehensive restoration, breathtaking architecture and excellent acoustics makes it an ideal backdrop for music ensembles to showcase their talents.

Choirs and Orchestras can use the resonant acoustics skilfully to create intimate passages as well as great climaxes in this grand religious building.

The cathedral plays host to the massed choir and orchestra performances. It is a great performance opportunity for students from across the world to perform together at this event in stunning surroundings of great historical significance.

Participating choirs and bands have the opportunity to play in the undercroft and ruins of Fountains Abbey, which was recently named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The abbey is a perfect location for groups to showcase their musical skills in the fantastic acoustics and atmospher of the undercroft chamber.. Set in 800 acres of national trust land, it plays an important role in the cultural history of the area.

Taking part in outdoor public performances provides yet another unique opportunity for your ensemble to perform in grand historical surroundings, making your festival experience all the more special.

Harlow Carr is a public garden run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

Harlow Carr is a public garden run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), acquired during the 2001 merger with the Northern Horticultural Society.

The gardens stand on what was once part of the Forest of Knaresborough, an ancient royal hunting ground.

In recent years there have been many developments at the garden including the creation of the Rose Revolution Borders, Gardens Through Time and the Winter Walk.

Harlow Carr is a garden dominated by water, stone and woodland and is very much part of the surrounding Yorkshire landscape, a perfect open air location which is set to enjoy performances from our participating groups in 2013.
