Harrogate International Youth Festival – history & more information:
Established in 1973, HIYF has a long and illustrious history of bringing together international youth bands and school performance groups to perform with the very best talent from the local area, ensuring international excellence and creativity.
HIYF creates a truly international flavour, where the ensembles have the chance to perform alongside other international groups and make lifelong friends. The groups receive accommodation, travel and attraction entrances.
Historic and memorable venues:
The Opening and Closing Concerts are held at Harrogate's Royal Hall, a venue which has provided the premier location for The Harrogate International Youth Festival since its conception in 1973.
Ripon Cathedral
The city of Ripon lies just 10 miles north of Harrogate. The quaint market town is dominated by the cathedral, where a church has stood since 672. A performance in this grand religious building is the highlight of the festival for many visiting choirs and orchestras.
